Physical Description

“It’s like the one redeeming quality I have. And by redeeming I mean not as bad as everything else.”

Derek isn’t necessarily one to pamper himself up or take massive care in his appearance. He’s often covered in oil or tar, with a rugged appearance he only barely tends to. Still, he keeps himself in a rather slick manner, even if he was little more impressive than a warg. His one notable appearance would be that of his goggles, which he never seems to part with. They obscure his eyes and eyebrows enough that it was hard at times to read his impressive, unless he was scowling or giving off a devilish grin. He tends to dress in red, though he seems to really only have two outfits.

Personality

“You’ll get more personality out of a literally dead horse. Seriously, I’m like the worst fucking person possible. But doesn’t matter to me.”

Derek is… not very well mannered. If manners are even able to be reached toward his ears. He at least tends not to break the law (unless he feels like it) and can respect people’s privacy (if he feels like it). He often comes up rather blunt, disrespectful, and a bit of a pervert. Though he can also be rather mellow, preferring to be laid back and more approachable. There’s somewhere in there a softer side to him, but he obviously never wants to bring it out. He often hits on people, though whether it’s a joke or not is hard to tell, as that applies to mostly anyone. Even people he wants to punch in the throat.

Background

“What, you expect me to keep secrets? Fuck that.”

Derek’s past seems complicated and sparingly talked about. Perhaps for good reason. He claims to be some kind of mist traveler, coming from a parallel reality in the endless and complicated universe, in which the Inquest instead ruled over much of Tyria, and technology advanced far beyond what anyone could comprehend. According to him, great cities of metal pierced the skies above, and culture there was much, much different. He also mentioned the oppression he faced, forcing him into insurgency against the Inquest menace, involving various terrorist tactics including bombings, shootings and other various things that were best not mentioned by him. Eventually, he met up with a band of resistance and, after being chased through a large Inquest complex by a squad of loyalist Seraph, arrived in the usual world of Tyria.

It took some time for him to adjust, and he started out by doing his typical banditry as he began to learn about the world around him. After the passing of time, he met a young girl named Candice who he helped to take shelter with against a large bandit menace led by a man known as ‘Brynn’. He found his way into the Refuge, where he stayed for a while before departing into Ascalon once more.

The Seraph from the other dimension however, had tracked him into the current world. From there, he was captured and about to be executed, before making his escape elsewhere with the help of some of the Refuge’s members. Once the Seraph were dead, Derek relocated himself back into the Refuge, where he remains to this day.

General Knowledge

“You need size measurements too?”

Magitech Goggles – The goggles he wears seems to allow him to read the emotions of people through advanced technologies which silently scan the chemicals pumped into ones brain. He claims to not know much about how it works, and just focuses on what it tells him.
