Motto: “To fear defeat is to invite it.”

Appearance:

Ora stands easily taller than others, his frame robust and athletic. Long, dark dreadlocks frame his dark-skinned face, reaching all the way to his shoulders. Glittering amber eyes – much like his half brother’s – watch over his trainees, safeguarding those he considers his responsibility. Ora’s strong jaw and high, defined cheekbones give him the appearance of a Rahal, yet there is something serious, almost dismal about him that separates him from his half brothers and his father. His long goatee is shaped in similar fashion as Daeva’s, adding further character to his rough features. More often than not, he is wearing golden Sunspear armor – in the house Aches colours. Only the helm is different in style, stolen from a Mordant Crescent long ago.

Personality:

Sharp like the daggers he carries, Ora isn’t easily fooled and those who try often end up regretting it. He is prideful and gruff, often coming off as intolerant and impatient. Those that know him better know that he can be friendly, caring and generous but he doesn’t show this side of himself often.
The life of a Sunspear has played a major part in molding Ora into the man he is today. He lives according to the eight virtues of the Sunspears: valor, humility, honor, honesty, justice, compassion, sacrifice, and loyalty. Much like his half brother, Ora is dignified, preferring to act by codes of honor he has tried to instill in his own trainees as well.
Though his outer appearance is strong, unyielding and unfeeling, inside Ora is conflicted. He longs for his family, yet shuns their way of life and refuses to acknowledge Joko as the ruler of Elona. Marks left by life, Ora prefers solitude over company, never deeming anyone trustworthy enough to show weakness to. He is austere, finding purpose only in his work in supporting the Sunspears and house Aches.

Skills/Attributes:

Ora is not only physically strong but he is also magically attuned, having been trained as a Spellbreaker by the Sunspears. He specializes in feeding off others’ magic and literally breaking their spells, cutting through magic and disrupting spells.
Due to his background in both king Joko’s army and in the Sunspear Order, Ora has been highly trained for war, more specifically, to the frontlines. He can take hits just as well as he can deliver them, shielding those that stand behind him with both muscle and magic.

Ora has been known to wield many kinds of weapons, though more often than not he relies on daggers, axes and a greatsword – like his half brother Daeva.

He rides a large Lahtenda Bog Hunter, a dark-scaled raptor named Grima. Grima has been Ora’s companion over the years, the pair having grown close on their travels together. The raptor is fearless, trained for combat, often assisting Ora in his fights.

Background:

Ora was born in Vabbi, as the bastard son of Najir Rahal. His childhood was spent riding in the hills of Vabbi and in combat training. He was trained alongside his half brother, Daeva. Looking up to his brother, Ora tried his best to become just as skilled, yet always falling a little short from expectations. As a bastard, he was destined to become Daeva’s guardian but never a full member of the family, and this was heavily reflected in his training. While Daeva was given the luxury of education, Ora was given only the knowledge he would need as a guardian and a protector of the family. And, as Daeva eventually entered the war academy, Ora stayed home.

The training he had been given though was enough for a common footsoldier, and so he was enlisted in the king’s army as soon as he was of age – by his father’s will. During his service, he was faced with nothing but injustice and atrocity outside the borders of Vabbi, seeing ordinary people massacred for their dissent and treated like cattle by the Mordant Crescent. His experiences opened his eyes and made him sympathetic to the common people and the Sunspear Order. Eventually he left the army, much to the dismay of his family.

During his years free of the army, Ora met the love of his life, Ghaia. Ghaia was kind-hearted yet driven, and she easily caught the eye of Daeva as well. But she paid the firstborn son no mind, preferring the company of the bastard son instead. This made Daeva envious and angry, yet he did not act upon his feelings. But on the dawn of the pair’s wedding day, Daeva received word that Ghaia was of the Order of Shadows, sent to spy on the Rahal family and the Mordant Crescent. Furious and driven to protect his family, Daeva sought out his Scourge-teacher, and together they cast a sand shade spell so horrible, even the djinn that guarded Daeva’s life fled. The shade took the shape of a monster, snatched poor Ghaia off the altar and devoured her. Ora – and everyone else – knew who the culprit was but no one dared to act. The loss of his bride was the last push Ora needed. The very same evening, Ora left his family behind and cut ties with them to join the Sunspear Order.

He stayed with the Sunspears up until the order was given to go into hiding. He stayed in the Desert Highlands for several years, wandering around as a nomad, avoiding the Mordant Crescent to the best of his ability and helping those he could. It took him several years but eventually the desire for vengeance forced him out in the open. He had planned to set a trap for Daeva, to take his life like he had taken Ghaia’s, but fate intervened. In Amnoon, he met a friendly sylvari instead, whom told him of Sunspear supporters far away from Elona and the Crystal desert. The name “Aches” rang familiar in Ora’s ears, and out of curiousity, he boarded an airship which took him all the way to Tyria, to the Silverwastes, and landing in the refuge.

Nowadays, Ora is sworn to protect the members of house Aches, serving the brothers as both a guardian and a teacher, helping their cause and in doing so, supporting the Sunspear Order he has sworn an oath to. He has made peace with his family though he doesn’t actively seek out their company after their arrival in the refuge. Having found new purpose in life, Ora finally seems to have found relative peace, disrupted only by the knowledge that the lich king that plagues his homeland still sits upon his throne in the Bone Palace.
