Physical Description
“Not to boast, but I guess I’m kind of good in that department.”
Coryn is of average height for a human male of his age. There are clear lines of stress and worry visible in his features, though whether or not this is a reflection of his current emotional state is unknown. He sports blonde hair and a scruffy beard of similar color, though it’s likely not natural. Despite his true age, he looks to be in his mid-thirties underneath his facial hair. His body seems sculpted and kept overly fit, though it’s likely lost some touch in recent times. The man seems physically fit, more so than most, capable of great amounts of agility, endurance and unnatural strength on similar level to a young norn. Frequently though, his joints can seem to lock up, though he tends to hide this away from sight. There are clear characteristics to show a level of mannerisms frequently found in nobility, especially on how his posture generally remains. The man can generally be found wearing pieces of armor he’s bought, though it seems he has a fondness for fitting them to himself, avoiding too many tailored businesses. Regardless he has a wide selection of clothing brought along with him that clearly show his noble pass. He can be highly recognizable by his dark green and brown colors, which he claims he “has a strange drawing to.” Regardless, this tends to make for excellent camouflage when in forested regions.
Personality
“I try to be gentle, though I can see how people call me annoying… Regardless, I’ll maybe get over this eventually.”
The young man tends to keep a positive attitude wherever he goes, and is shown to be rather outgoing. It’s no surprise that he can tend to be clumsy and a bit of a doofus, but this seems to be a mere act as how he can turn serious upon the turn of a coin. He seems to have no greater joy than making others happy, often picking fun at even himself to get a few laughs out, though this can tend to get a bit annoying and he’ll awkwardly attempt to play it off. He is also known to be rather emotional, sometimes becoming stressed or tearing up at the simplest of things. However there are also times when he’s caught in a more mellow and surprisingly calmed state, showing a more tougher and content side of himself, during which he tends to exceed in performance on objectives he’s given. The man also seems to have a natural draw to nature, acting with mysticism and a wise nature towards many things in the world. Should somebody act hostile to him or a loved one, it’s no surprise that Coryn can step out to defend them, sometimes being more intimidating than he usually can be depending on his attitude at the time. Yet still, above all else he always tries his hardest to do what’s best for others, and has learned a lot from previous mistakes which had given him a partially bad reputation.
Background
“My past isn’t as arduous as others, I get that… I get that it isn’t easy for anyone. And I know I haven’t been through things as long as others have. But that doesn’t mean what happened to me was any lesser, nor any greater, than those same others… I guess it’s just a matter of perspective. It always is. And it’s a shame. Sorry, my past isn’t normally something I like talking about. I may not act like it, but it’s actually really changed me. Sometimes for the better. Yet still… when I look at what I’ve become there’s both a sense of pride… and fear… I have become happy by letting myself slip down the drain, become unraveled. I don’t know if it was worth it yet. I don’t know if I’ll just suddenly die one day and that’ll be it. I want to doubt it, but I can’t say what will happen next to me… I guess we’ll just have to see.”
Early Childhood (1307 AE – 1329 AE)
Coryn Manchester was born into his noble house based in Divinity’s Reach to parents Coarson and Vermillia Manchester. From a young age his parents had destined him to undertake studies in nobility and Krytan politics, stuff that seemed to bore the boy quite a bit. His household was guarded by a group of ruffians titled the ‘Manchester Guard’ which were lead by the norn Lorick Raspweaver. The group was in layman’s terms a group of mercenaries for hire over a long period of time, and were questionable in some legal formats, though they tended to be allowed due to the families high influence. Made up of mostly norn and toughened humans, they protected young Coryn from the day he was birthed. Despite popular belief, Coryn did not start his journey as a marksman through sneaking out in his beginning years and will gladly correct himself on that. It was actually his father and Lorick who decided the boy could be trained in hunting, largely due to the Manchester’s ties to the funding of the hunting grounds within Kryta. From the age of three, Coryn began to use a bow, and as he started to age he tended to lean more onto the exploration of nature rather than his studies.
Coryn eventually found himself a brother known as Thadenor, who was adopted into the family as an orphan after becoming friends with Coryn. The two were inseparable and spent their years doing as boys do in Divinity’s Reach and Queensdale, sometimes to their parents dismay, or at least their mother. Eventually though, Thadenor left to his own journey in life, and Coryn was forced to remain due to him being the next heir to the title of Lord in the household. Though Coryn didn’t want this kind of thing, in fact he wanted nothing more than to break free from his parents grip and explore the world himself. One day however, his brother returned with news of a group he had met which seemed to suit Coryn’s wants and desires. The boy set out to meet the group after sneaking out of his parents at the age of twenty three, where he met many friends and people he consider family to this day.
Enslavement (1329 AE – 1330 AE)
Tragedy struck however on one specific mission, where the man was caught in a blast of the volatile bloodstone substance and was subsequently killed. However miraculously, he somehow survived his injuries, though a changed man. His ways were corrupted and twisted, and he didn’t quite act like how he once was. Though he was still a seemingly good man, he was not the man many had grown up with. He became more volatile, unnatural, not who he was meant to be. This would go on for quite a long period of time until a fateful day in Ossan, where he was revealed to have been unaware of his actions for most of the year he was gone.
The Inquest (1330 AE)
After fleeing from Divinity’s Reach for a crime he swore he did not commit, he was found by a good friend of his and recruited into the Inquest Operative Tenet. He received a complete facial reconstruction and was sent forth to do work with the (slightly) lesser xenophobic branch of the megakrewe, where he was given tactical training and capabilities required for espionage.
His death was faked within Divinity and he was given a new alias, Mytian Candentian, to keep his true identity safe. His family, thinking him to have been dead, suffered greatly. The leader of the Manchester Guard passed away due to a mixture of stress and feelings of failure, and his mother grew sickly. The flowers and bright colors of the estate lost their colors and turned into a more grey state, before eventually being taken over by a supposed uncle of the family. The old Manchester Guard was kicked out and replaced by a newer, more organized and professional branch made purely up of humans dressed in heavy plating, and contact with any of the Manchesters started to fade away until very recently.
Nevertheless, his alias Mytian Candentian was unveiled to reveal his true self at his friend Ikaros’ wedding, which he wished to visit in secret before carrying on with his tasks. It was there the man also revealed a sort of parasite that was found in his body, that slowly began to decay him from the inside-out. He was taken quickly to a medical facility where he spent a good week or two in operation to recover, many of his organs and bone structures replaced with mechanical augmentation to enhance his combat capabilities overtime. Eventually, he was assigned to remain with other Inquest associates in the Refuge after an alliance was created to help deal with a major threat from the mists… Though it seems he got a bit too settled in and joined the Refuge, though never officially.
Sanctuary (1330 AE – Present Day)
After the abolishment of the Inquest Operative Tenet, Coryn was fortunately set free from the Inquest and allowed to remain in the Refuge where he stays to this day. He’s been through plenty of hardships and failed loves, though has recently seemed to settle on a woman he doesn’t seem to want to ever let go. He keeps his friends and those he call his family close by his side, and tends to look out for what’s best with him. Recently he has began looking further into House Manchester and its happenings, eyes kept on Venryk Manchester and his accompanying guardsmen. It seems soon he intends to strike upon them and reunite with his parents.
General Knowledge
“Sure, let’s talk about ourselves.”
Druid – Due to Coryn’s abnormal attunement to nature, he eventually picked up the abilities of a druid and is currently training it.
Augmented – Coryn holds plenty of augments in himself given to him from the Inquest which increase his combat capabilities. These include filtered lungs, enhanced perception, increased strength as well as high dexterity.
Owner of Pets… a lot of them. – Coryn currently owns three birds, a crow named Aulson, a snow owl named Critney, and an eagle named Delphia. He also owns a pet wolf cub named Alex which was gifted to him on his birthday. He doesn’t tend to keep his birds at home but rather lets them free into the wilds for a long period of time. Though Alex tends to be kept at his home, being a rather excitable pup.
