Appearance
Sunny is above average height, somewhat stocky with well-toned muscles. She’s pale-skinned with freckles scattered about her face and shoulders, accompanying a fluff of untameable red hair. She is almost always seen in her sleeveless grey overcoat, with chunky boots on her feet and hand and shoulder guards when ready for war. A greatsword of Ebonhawke design was often strapped to her back, and hatchet and combat knife at her belt.
Early life
Sunny was born the second of quadruplets to Lena and Martin Barrows, the strain of which left Lena wheelchair-bound for the remainder of her life. She spent her early life at the family home in Divinity, being home-schooled by her mother and father alongside her sisters; a strong focus being given to necromancy and their heritage. She chafed at family life, however, and spent much of her free time on the streets of Divinity and ingrained herself into a group of street children. Her experiences there significantly shaped the beliefs she grew up with in later life, and partly led to the development of her interest in swordplay, leading to her convincing her parents to hire a tutor, under whom she quickly grew in skill.
The Vigil and the Skeleton Key Society
The day after her 18th birthday Sunny signed up to the Vigil alongside her sister June, determined to help protect the world she grew up in. There she was known to her compatriots as a wild, boisterous but skilled soldier, and to her superiors as a troublesome and defiant individual who nonetheless achieved results. Never managing a rank above Crusader, Sunny fought during the Orr campaign as well as the Maguuma campaign; after which she left service with complaints regarding incompetent officers.
After a brief stint as a bounty hunter Sunny came into contact with the secretive Skeleton Key Society, and joined up despite her reservations. There she took it upon herself to shield the lower ranks from their manipulative superiors and ultimately she cut ties a few months before the Grimaldi Bank’s explosive end, and found passage to Elona to support the locals there alongside her close companion, Droffa.
Present
Sunny was employed by Bret Greyskull a few days after returning from the Refuge’s journey to to the Sandswept Isles, and though she has yet to visit the Institute itself she has accompanied it in the field, ultimately leading to her presence at the end of Bret himself. Events along the way pushed her to end the uncertainty between her and the woman she cares for most, and for Sunny the silver lining has appeared at the clouds’ edge.
The Barrows Household
“Death is for the dead.”
Sunny’s family claims Ascalonian descent, and indeed can trace their line back centuries before the Searing. The house has a long history of service to Grenth, and they became somewhat well-known as priests, stonemasons, and tomb builders; though family members explored many other careers besides. Following their flight into Kryta the family continued their religious service even as their numbers dwindled though the years. Today the family home, aged and dilapidated, is all that remains of a once proud heritage, with three sisters the last remaining scions of the Barrows name.
