Physical description

Rhys is six foot six inches tall with moss green skin, darker green eyes and swampy leaves for hair tied back into a kind of ponytail. His face has wood bark like features typical to a sylvari and a rather slender and lean figure. He is actually surprisingly athletic and quick with his hands.

Personality traits

Rhys is a loyal, trustworthy, level headed and calm man, he very rarely loses his temper even in the heart of a battle, knowing exactly how much force or assertion is needed in his voice and actions, he prefers not killing opponents, having the firm belief that everyone has motives and a point of view to contribute to a case and that nobody is exempt from presenting a defence if they can do it in a calm and rational manner. Rhys’ diligence and well mannered behaviour when working is known to be his most noticeable trait, as well as his ability to ignore personal opinions for the sake of justice.

Peppers description

Pepper is Rhys’ pet fern hound, like many fern hounds she can release healing spores into the air to heal allies gently. She is called pepper due to her unusual black spots on the lower ends of her leaves, she is about two feet tall and over a metre in length from tail to nose. Being strong enough to serve as an attack dog, but sweet enough to support allies. She is known to be affectionate and well trained by rhys, Able to detect wounds with scent and sight. Recognising blood and bandages easily.

Early Life

• Rhys first woke from the tree in 1312 AE
• In his pre-life dream he had visions of protecting the innocent,the visions were “rather vague” as he puts it but he was born with a level head and a good sense of right and wrong
• at three days old, Rhys encountered a wild fern hound puppy, tamed it and managed to train it to help him over the course of several years
• Back in the grove at the age of two, Rhys was a warden for the grove, investigating a shipment of stolen supplies lead him to the lionguard, as well as into a skirmish with the nightmare court. who had stolen the supplies. He didn’t kill them, but managed to arrest most of them without harm.
• After three more years of training and success as a warden, rhys left to join the lionguard, where he was stationed at First Haven in Gendarran fields with his faithful fern hound assissting him.

The Lionguard

• Early in the lionguard, rhys was a search and rescue officer, helping travelers who had been attacked by wildlife nearby the haven. As soon as the risen started appearing there, rhys was given the task of keeping an eye on their numbers and culling the risen population if it grew too close to the haven.
• After several years, Rhys was promoted several times in the lionguard, up until he was a full sheriff of the haven, working under the haven chief for five years.

The smugglers plot

• Despite rhys’ trust of the haven and its staff, in 1329 A.E First haven began to have an unusual supply shortage, supplies would arrive in the morning to be packed and shipped off to the next haven. Only to vanish overnight… This prompted rhys to investigate.
• Rhys came to the surprising conclusion that his boss, the chief and other members of staff at first haven had been sending the supplies to local bandits in exchange for money, catching them in the act of making a deal.
• After a brief battle, Rhys had managed to arrest the others in first haven, stepping down from the lionguard for his “Crooked post and accidently enabling them to do what they did”

Post-maguma

• After the news of Mordremoth corrupting sylvari, Rhys proved his innocence by essentially arresting himself, staying in a cell for the duration of the assault on the maguma jungle with a clear conscience. Knowing that if he did nothing wrong, there would be no problems. It isn’t very clear how much impact rhys’ rational thinking and understanding nature had on other peoples views on the sylvari after this.

Now

• Rhys came to the refuge as a traveler after eventually being released from the cell, when an outbreak of a mysterious illness occurred in the refuge, Rhys took the initiative to lead people to safety with his natural immunity to the illness. After these actions he was made an official enforcer of the refuge, to which he still maintains a loyal and fair vigil over the canyon.

General Trivia

• Rhys never really talks about his past, mainly because few people ask.
• Rhys is very rarely shy of his feelings or thoughts, being rather open about his opinion when asked for it.
• He doesn’t live in one set location in the refuge, for the entire time he has been there, he has camped in different locations when not working.
• Rhys has his own drink he keeps in a hip flask, it never leaves his side. Nobody knows what is in there. But it smells like sylvari nectar drinks with a hint of whiskey.
• It is rumoured he has a crush on Moreera, no confirmation of this aside from gossip from Jeff.
• Rhys’ birthday is on Phoenix 40th (may 10th)
